A diamond edge is typical for a Moroccan mosaic table. In addition to its decorative function, it also has a symbolic function: as stylized eyes (witch eyes), square diamonds are supposed to protect people from all kinds of misfortune. In this context, the mosaic setter the most diverse patterns and ornaments. But one thing is always the same: The glazed mosaic pieces are first removed from the handcrafted Zellige tiles Each table top is pure manual work and therefore absolutely unique.
At the Ankabut dining table are the joints between the individual mosaic pieces clearly visible. This is entirely intentional, as the craftsmen had used the artfully woven web of a spider (Ankabut) in mind. Alternatively, the design is reminiscent of fireworks or a flower bed, which flower lovers love. The mosaicist chose subtle shades of blue and yellow for the colors. The black contours give the light flowers plasticity.
