The Rhombus is a typical stylistic feature of the Orient. Strictly speaking, it is usually a square standing on a point. Symbol for the eye (witch's eye), the diamond is supposed to protect against the evil eye. The plate of this mosaic table is composed entirely of diamonds: a wreath on the edge, a parquet in the inner field.
This mosaic bistro table could have been modeled on a mosque floor. The green Mosaic pieces (tesserae) are made of glazed Zellije tiles hewn and laid practically seamlessly. In between, small pieces of terracotta tiles the surface. The light diamond border is made of the same material. A beautiful example that fits particularly well in a leafy and flowering environment inserts
