A diamond edge is typical for a Moroccan mosaic table. In addition to its decorative function, it also has a symbolic function: as stylized eyes (witch's eyes), square diamonds are supposed to protect people from all kinds of harm. The mosaicists place a wide variety of patterns and ornaments in this frame. One thing is always the same, however: the glazed mosaic pieces are first hewn out of the hand-crafted Zellige tiles with a sharp-edged hammer. Each table top is entirely handmade and therefore absolutely unique.
At the bistro table Ankabut The joints between the individual mosaic pieces are clearly visible. This is entirely intentional, as the craftsmen had the artfully woven web of a spider (Ankabut) in mind when designing the mosaic. Alternatively, the design is reminiscent of fireworks or a flowerbed, which flower lovers love. The mosaicist chose subtle shades of green, blue and red for the colors. The black contours give the light flowers a three-dimensional appearance.
